Being a part of Team 1319 in FIRST Robotics sparked my curiosity about engineering as a career. It made me aware of all the different disciplines that go into creating a solution to a problem for programmers, mechanical
engineers, electrical engineers, public relations and grant writers, and safety engineers.
It takes a village to tackle a problem and Flash prepared me to be able to collaborate with people who have lots of different strengths.
I learned so many valuable things being a part of the Flash team which helped me prepare for my college years at Clemson in Electrical Engineering. It also helped me prepare for my current job as an Instrumentation and Electrical Engineer at an oil refinery in New Orleans.
I can't recommend enough for young kids and teens to try FIRST Robotics. It will open their eyes to a whole new world of possibilities.

Truthfully, Flash 1319 was the gateway that allowed me to completely step into the field of STEM. It allowed me to travel and kept my interest in school and after school activities that I didn't have before.
I met new people and was prepared for the career path I have now. The team was a great way to help build skills I was just learning and learn even new things. And it kept me driven where there I had not been originally driven. Flash was a great opportunity.
